Program: In order to halt and reverse nature loss and strengthen economic and ecosystem resilience, a fundamental transformation of the social and economic system is required where natural capital is recognized as a driver for economic growth and an asset on our balance sheets. To accelerate this transformation, it is critical to reflect the voices of Asia and the Global South in the standardization of international rulemaking. Building on the results of the projects implemented by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the University of Tokyo Center for Global Commons, this seminar will discuss the process and roadmap to make natural capital counted for all levels of economic decision making and disseminate the discussion to a wider international community.
